EXERCISE - " BREATH OF FIRE " TO FIGHT COVID

This pandemic , statistics do not show signs of ending soon, however, doctors across the world agree on one point, that is by increasing our immunity and making our immune system stronger, we can battle it.

Here is a breathing exercise that can help to improve our health and immunity during COVID times.

Kapaalbhati ( also called as " Breath of fire ")

The word kapalabhati is made up of two Sanskrit words: kapāla meaning 'skull', and bhāti meaning, illuminating'.

What does it do:

It activates the diaphragm area, which in turn engages the internal organs and glands in that area. It also helps in activating the lymphatic system, which decides the immunity level of the body. It also increases the resistance of your respiratory tract. It helps in overall detoxification.

How to do it:

Sit in a comfortable position. Close your eyes and let your body relax. Ensure your face is relaxed and calm when you do the exercise. Exhale through both the nostrils with a forceful contraction of abdominal muscles. The inhalation should take place passively by allowing the abdominal muscles to relax.

EXERCISE - THE CORRECT WAY TO INHALE STEAM

Process: Heat up water to boiling temperature. Now cautiously pour the hot water into the bowl. Cover the towel over the back of your head. Close your eyes and slowly lower your head toward the vapour about 10 inches away from the water. Avoid making direct contact with the water. Inhale slowly and deeply via the nose for at least two to five minutes. Don’t steam for more than 10-15 minutes per session. However, you can repeat steam therapy twice or thrice in a day to ease congestion or if you still suffer from symptoms. Benefits : The key benefit of inhaling in moist, warm steam is that it may help alleviate irritation and swollen blood vessels in the nasal passages.  The vapour may also support thinning of the mucus in your sinuses, which permits them to clear out easily.  It also relaxes throat muscles, lessen soreness and inflammation and dilates blood vessels improving blood circulation. This allows breathing to return to normal and help you to breathe well.
